I painted this at our farm table in France in 2000; I had to make small paintings, as I did not have a studio. The column comes from a Roman column in a roundabout in that corner of France, and the other shapes and words refer to my speculation about Picasso's making of the Demoiselles and their own imagined thoughts about, and responses to, him....
