My husband, Charles Tarlton, a retired political theory professor and poet, and I live in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. I am a member of Gallery One CT, have been juried into shows at the Lyme Art Association, and I am an elected artist in The Essex Art Association. Gallery One CT offers shows each year in Connecticut from New Haven to Stonington and will be showing at The Guilford Art Center beginning March 14, 2025. As a winner of the Gantner Award at The Essex Art Association, I was given a solo show, “Patina,” in August 2022, in the Gantner Gallery there. My paintings were selected for the juried Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts Annual in 2016 and included in the CAFA+ Members Virtual Show of 2021. My work was chosen for the Northampton Biennials of 2019 and 2015. I participated in two group shows at the #LOCAL Gallery in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Hope and Feathers Gallery in Amherst, Massachusetts showed my work in a two-person exhibition, "Shaking Loose: Rhys Davies and Ann Knickerbocker," during October, 2017, and the two of us painted live in the gallery for 8-10 hours each week. My paintings and prints, "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her," were exhibited at the Emily Dickinson Museum during the Amherst, Massachusetts, Art Walk on September 1, 2016. I am a former member of Gallery A3 in Amherst and Gallery Route One in Point Reyes Station, California. Cider House Media in Easthampton, Massachusetts, gave me a solo show in September 2015. My first solo show was in the Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta, Malta, in 1990, and I have painted steadily since 1988.

“Mind The Gap:5 petals” is part of a new series of work that departs from my group of ink-and-watercolor paintings of the last year or so. The title refers to that gap between mind and body. It is, as a friend told me, a series filled with “energy and defiance and exuberance” and more than a little aggression. This painting has been juried into “Abstracted” at The Lyme Art Association, there from February 28 through April 10, 2025. The opening reception is March 2 from 2-4:00 pm, at 90 Lyme Street, Old Lyme, Connecticut.
