This is a continuing pursuit of my desire to make the bodies still and the context shimmer, an attempt to reverse Francis Bacon's struggling bodies and still air. I love the natural awkwardness of this figure by Van Gogh; it is endearing. But, finally, it was all Van Gogh, and I had to paint over it.
