(For description of series, see "for eb series II: low-slung lamp/perch). The word here was fleece. We had been staying in a B & B inrural England, a place with bocage (rows of trees with exposed roots, so that they seem to sit high above the ground) and sheep. We generally didn't bother the sheep on our daily walks, but one day, they began silently coming towards us. I have always thought of them as rather calm and peaceful, but this flock was quite aggressive... and actually scary, as a group.
