Paintings
I read an article on the making of Chanel No. 5. ("Fragrant Harvest," by Lauren Collins, The New Yorker, 3/19/18, with stunning photographs by Pari Dukovic). The left-hand part of this painting was sketched in, and I had been thinking of adding something from our garden, but nothing much is visible yet (snow and bare stems right now). The roses from this article gave way to roses in my imagination. we have been to the Musée International de la Parfumerie in Grasse and spent long hours in the town years ago. I like the calm, stained-glass look of this design against the riot of color in the flowers.
