In isolation, I have been whitewashing paintings that needed attention. This one came into being with the large pencilled circle--drawn freehand, as Picasso suggested. I have been drawing more. I start with the interiors of houses (we have lived in many places!). This small square interior, lower left, is the floor plan of our 19th-century stone house in Normandy. I work up to defining each space with color and circles corresponding to how frequently we used each section and the moods we felt there. This isn't the most obvious use of line drawing, but this is, for me, a big departure: line vs. color. Sold.
