This comes from a sign for an exhibition in Galicia, Spain. I liked the way the words Do Gravado echoed. This began with utterly free gestures, thrown paint, until the painting asserted itself as one of my graffiti'd walls. The upper right stapled papers are crumpled versions of an Agnes Martin photograph, which provides a lot of the white and shadowed black and an eye or two, so this really becomes an homage to two painters.
