Ordonnaz in silver stencil, the hills, bright yellow sun upper left, "avec noms..."
Ordonnaz: avec noms de personnes, mais sans personnes
acrylic, collage, stencil
3 x 4' approx.
1997

This was in the 1998 French landscape show. Ordonnaz was a beautiful hillside village where we rented a gite. Cows came through the vilage twice a day, on their way to graze, and cheese was for sale from people who made it right there. This is a painting of my daily runs through the hills. The collaged writing means "with names of people, but without people," which I think was an idea by Gertrude Stein for her next play.
